“Viral posts don’t do anything for you”

…or don’t they?

“Viral posts don’t give you anything other than a dopamine rush.”

How many times have you heard someone say this lately?

Here’s the good news and the bad news: It’s true.

Viral posts don’t bring IMMEDIATE results, but every viral post DOES achieve this:

Those are the things that bring LONG-TERM results.

When comparing post performance and measuring the results, make sure you are not comparing apples to oranges. Here’s an example:

Post A: 33,000 views, 0 lead
Post B: 2,000 views, 4 leads

But this comparison is only telling part of the story.

Is it possible that the leads from “underperforming” Post B would never have found you without “viral” Post A? Chances are that your viral post got you onto their feed and prompted them to view your profile and follow you.

Every post has its purpose.

While you don’t want to obsess about going viral, don’t shun those posts either. Your content strategy should include a mix of engagement-generating posts AND conversion-focused posts.

Whether you are going viral or not, make sure you have a content strategy. Here’s a link to The Ultimate LinkedIn Content Strategy and information on How often you should post.

I think this is a Type B blog post.

It won’t go viral, and that’s okay. It’s all part of the strategy 😉
